Georgia, the Gymnast!

Georgia and her teammates attended their first gymnastics competition in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in late February. They all competed at the Provincial 1 (P1) Argo level and did REALLY well as a team and individually.

Georgia had a rough start but did not let that faze her. She tried her hardest on all of her events and even though some didn't finish the way they had in practice she did not let that shake her positive attitude.

Her hard work netted some pretty impressive results: Georgia won a bronze medal for her beam routine! She tied for 9th on floor. And finished 11th overall, out 17 gymnasts.

She was so proud of herself when they called her name.  We are proud of you too baby, not just for the medal, although that is fantastic, but for the hard work you put in every week at the gym and to have been brave enough to get out there to compete in the first place.

How to make the world and your mother smile

Georgia started yesterday by saying that she wanted to wear a moustache.  I said that I could help with that. So we did this.

But it wasn't quite right yet...

Georgia:  I look, how do you say, French!
Olivia:  No.You look, how do you say, weird.

And off we went to Brandon for lunch, shopping, gymnastics, bowling and dinner.  Georgia told me at bedtime "that wearing a moustache was the right thing to do today, Mom." And, indeed, it was.

You make my heart smile Georgia. Thank you for that.

Happy 8th Birthday Georgia!

It is Georgia's 8th birthday today.

 

 

In her honour I will tell you 8 wonderful things about Georgia:

 

1. Georgia is a very kind and generous sister and friend. She is the little "mother hen" of any play group.

2. Georgia is very funny and has a very infectious laugh. She is the kid that is hardest to yell at because she can make you laugh when you are trying to be serious.

 

3.Georgia has her own unique sense of style.  She enjoys bright colours.

4. Georgia likes stuffed animals. We hope she grows out of this before the house is overrun.

5.Although she is very easygoing she has a titanium backbone and CANNOT be convinced of something different once she has made up her mind.

She said she wanted her hair all kinky.

Apparently she changed her mind.

6. Georgia is a smart cookie! Her current favourites are science; especially sharks and dinosaurs.

7.Georgia is a budding gymnast. She works hard at her sport and bends like she has no bones!

 

 

8. Georgia makes Scott and I very proud to have her as our daughter.

About Georgia

Georgia a new friend. Her name is Sasparilla and she is Georgia's Tooth Fairy. She visited us again last night to trade tooth #4 for $2. Good deal for a tooth.

I may have mentioned last fall that G had 6 loose teeth. And was, in fact, becoming shark-like by growing a second row of bottom teeth. (I believe she is an orthodontist's dream but we'll find that out as she gets a little older.) It has only been in the last few months that these teeth have started coming out. Well... been pulled out. Scott has had to pull each one as Georgia has been content enough to let them dangle. Georgia has been very brave. So brave that we are now on a first name basis with the Tooth Fairy.

Georgia has been leaving small notes for the Sasparilla to fill out at each visit. We have learned that Sasparilla has short purple hair, green eyes and pink skin. She is small and lives with her sisters. Sasparilla is good friends with Santa and they apparently play tennis together in their off time.
